RuffRuff Selling Periods

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Selling period rules can be applied at the variant level, so you can run pre-launch announcements or limited-time sales per variant.

For details, see "About selling period rules".

Yes. On the "Products" page, select multiple products and click "Apply rule" to apply the rule in bulk. You can also filter by collection before selecting.

For details, see "Apply / Remove rules from products".

This is not directly supported. However, you can filter products by collection on the "Products" page and apply a rule to them in bulk, which effectively applies the rule to the products in a collection.

For details, see "Apply / Remove rules from products".

The number of rules and the number of products you can apply them to are both unlimited. However, due to Shopify's specifications, the total number of checkout rules that can be activated is limited to 25 per store (including checkout rules created by other apps).

Each rule supports only a single start and end date/time; there is no support for automatic recurrence (e.g. weekly or monthly). To run periodic sales, create and apply a new rule each time.

No. Variables are not supported for alert messages; they are only available for product messages.

For details, see "Display product message dynamically (variables)".

This depends on the specifications of the bundle app you are using. We have confirmed compatibility with Shopify Bundles (Shopify's official app). Whether it works depends on how the bundle products are created:

  • Static bundles (products created in advance, as with Shopify Bundles): selling period rules can be applied

  • Dynamic bundles (bundles composed in real time on the storefront): may not be compatible

If you are using a third-party bundle app, please check its specifications using the above as a reference.

No, the app does not provide a feature to control crawling by search engines such as Google.

To hide a page from search engines, please refer to the Shopify Help Center.

Yes. Outside the selling period, both the Add to Cart button and dynamic checkout buttons such as "Buy it now" are hidden. They are only displayed during the selling period.

Yes. The product page remains viewable as usual. Outside the selling period, only cart/checkout purchasing and the product message shown on the page are controlled — the page's publish status and accessibility are not affected.

The app loads a lightweight script on the storefront via the theme's app embed, which displays messages and controls buttons on the product page. If the app embed is disabled, these features will not work.

The plan you subscribed to on the development store does not carry over to the live store. You will need to subscribe to a plan again on the live store.

For details, see "About development stores".
