RuffRuff Selling Periods controls the selling period through two separate mechanisms, each with its own role and scope.
Through the theme's app embed, the following are controlled on the product page:
Showing/hiding the Add to Cart button and dynamic checkout buttons (switched automatically based on the selling period)
Displaying the product message and countdown timer
This display control only applies to the Online Store sales channel. It does not work on other channels such as Shop or social channels.
The app uses Shopify's Cart and Checkout Validation to block orders containing products outside their selling period at checkout, and displays an alert message.
Orders are blocked once the buyer proceeds to checkout. Adding a product to the cart itself is not prevented.
This covers the standard Online Store checkout only. Draft orders created in Shopify Admin or orders created via the API do not go through this restriction.
With payment methods that redirect to an external page (such as convenience store payment), if a buyer selects the payment method during the selling period but confirms the order on the external page after the period ends, the order may go through.
If Shopify itself is experiencing an outage, the restriction may not work correctly.
The number of checkout rules that can be activated is limited to 25 per store, including rules created by other apps.
A paid plan subscription and an enabled theme app embed are required.
The selling start/end date and time are based on your store's timezone setting (Settings > General). If you change the store's timezone afterward, the date/time of existing rules is not automatically converted.
