RuffRuff Selling Periods

Orders placed outside the selling period

Check the plan, rule, payment method, and Shopify outages

If an order was placed outside the selling period, check the following in order.

Checkout order blocking requires a paid plan. Development stores also need a paid plan for testing.

If the rule status is Disabled, orders are not blocked. Enable it and save.

Check that a selling period rule is applied to the product or variant.

Start and end date and time are interpreted in the time zone under Shopify admin → Settings → General. If the time is not what you intended, check the time zone and the rule dates.

Note: Changing the store time zone later does not convert dates on rules that are already saved.

With payment methods that finish on an external page, such as convenience store payment, an order can be completed outside the selling period in the following flow.

  • During the selling period, the customer chooses a payment method that goes to an external page

  • After the selling period ends, the customer completes the order on that external page

Apps that use Shopify's Cart and Checkout Validation API cannot block this. For limited-time sale products, consider hiding payment methods that leave the checkout page.

To hide specific payment methods, see RuffRuff Order Limits.

This app blocks orders with Shopify's Cart and Checkout Validation API. If Shopify has an outage, the block may not run.

For a past example, see Checkout validation did not run during a Shopify outage.

If an order was placed outside the selling period, explain the situation to the customer and cancel the order if needed.
